The Work We Take On

Most of the houses we get called to in Scranton were built somewhere between 1938 and 1982, with a heavy concentration from the 1960s and 70s.

Overdue hardware replacement

That means a lot of the doors we see are either original hardware that's long overdue for replacement, or a second-generation door hung on torsion springs and track that were never upsized when the panel was swapped out.

Residential repair scope

We work on broken torsion and extension springs, openers that have stopped responding, bent or dented panels, and rollers and cables that have worn through. We don't try to be everything to everyone. We handle residential garage doors and the openers, springs, cables, tracks, and panels that go with them.

Replace versus repair call

We don't do commercial overhead doors or gate systems, and if a door is cheaper to replace than to keep patching, we'll tell you that instead of running up a repair bill on something near the end of its life.

Surrounding towns served

The area we cover runs out from South Side and East Mountain, both within a mile of where we're based on Wyoming Ave, out through Dunmore, Moosic, Throop, Old Forge, Dickson City, and the string of boroughs further out toward Clarks Summit and Factoryville. The housing stock changes a little as you move through those towns, but the core problem is the same: original hardware aging out at the same time across a lot of homes built in the same decade.

What to expect

After You Call

When you call, we ask what the door is doing, or not doing, and whether it's a spring, an opener, or something with the track or panel.

Phone-guided temporary fixes

A door that won't move at all is usually a spring or a cable, not the opener, even though the opener gets blamed first. If we can talk you through a safe temporary fix over the phone, like manually releasing the opener so the door can be opened by hand, we will.

Pre-quote failure inspection

For the job itself, we look at what's actually failed before we quote anything. On a lot of the 1960s and 70s builds we see in this area, the spring size or the track mount doesn't match what you'd put on a newer door, so we bring stock that covers both older and current hardware rather than guessing on site.

Hard-to-source older parts

Parts for some older torsion setups aren't something every supplier carries off the shelf, and if that's the case on your door, we'll say so up front instead of making you wait and wonder. We're not going to pad a repair with work the door doesn't need. If a spring replacement solves the problem, that's what you get billed for.

Getting Hold of Us

Call 15703008496 to reach us directly. We're based at 345 Wyoming Ave, Scranton, PA 18503, which puts us close to South Side and East Mountain and within a short drive of most of the boroughs we cover, from Dunmore and Moosic out to Dickson City and Olyphant.

Winters here get cold enough that steel springs and nylon rollers both behave differently than they do in July, and a door that worked fine in September can start sticking or refusing to close once temperatures drop. If that's what's going on, mention it when you call so we know to check for cold-weather binding rather than just a worn part.

If you're not sure whether what you're dealing with is worth a service call, call anyway and describe it. Most of the time we can tell from the symptoms whether it's a quick fix or something bigger, before anyone drives out.

Questions

Common questions

Do you work on garage doors outside Scranton itself?

Yes. We cover the surrounding boroughs as well, including Dunmore, Moosic, Throop, Old Forge, Dickson City, Olyphant, Clarks Summit, and several other towns within roughly a dozen miles of our Wyoming Ave location.

My house is older. Will you have parts for my door?

A lot of the homes we work on were built between 1938 and 1982, so we carry hardware sized for older torsion setups as well as current doors. If a specific part for an older system isn't something we stock, we'll tell you that before starting the job, not after.

Do you install commercial overhead doors or gates?

No. We work on residential garage doors, openers, springs, tracks, and panels. We don't handle commercial overhead doors or gate systems, so if that's what you need, we'd rather tell you upfront than take on a job outside what we do.

What should I do if my door won't open at all?

Call us and describe what's happening. If it's safe to do, you can manually release the opener so the door can be moved by hand in the meantime. Most doors that won't open are a spring or cable problem rather than the opener itself.
